MIL-HDBK-633, DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE HANDBOOK: MOBILE ELECTRIC POWER ENGINE GENERATOR STANDARD FAMILY GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS (20 FEB 1998) [SUPERSEDES MIL-STD-633E]., This standard provides detailed information on the physical and electrical characteristics and logistical data on the DOD approved family of mobile electric power engine-driven generator sets. The standard has been prepared for use by all Departments and Agencies of the DOD in selecting engine-driven generator sets and ancillary equipment for applications requiring mobile sources of electric power and to assist the PM-MEP in effecting management and standardization of such sources of power within the DOD. The engine-driven generator sets listed herein are the only mobile sets authorized for procurement. DOD components with mobile electric power requirements within the range of 0.5 kW through 750 kW, whose needs cannot be satisfied by one of the listed generator sets, must obtain deviation approval of the Project Manager before taking any procurement action. Special instructions on the preparation and submittal of deviations are contained in the Logistics Joint Operating Procedures AR 700-101, AFR 400-50, NAVMATINST 4120.100A, MCO 11310.8c and DLAR 4120.7 titled Management and Standardization of Mobile Electric Power Generating Sources.
