【摘要】:Theintegritytestmethodsdescribedareusedtodeterminetheintegrityofmembranesystems,andareapplicabletosystemscontainingmembranemoduleconfigurationsofbothhollowfiberandflatsheet;suchas,spiral-woundconfiguration.InallcasesthepracticesapplytomembranesintheRO,NF,andUFmembraneclasses.However,theTOCandDyeTestpracticesdonotapplytomembranesintheMFrangeortheupperendoftheUFporesizerange(0.01x03BC;mandlargerporesizes)duetoinsignificantorinconsistentremovalofTOCmaterialbythesemembranes.Thesemethodsmaybeusedtoidentifyrelativechangesintheintegrityofasystem,orusedinconjunctionwiththeequationsdescribedin9.4,toprovideameansofestimatingtheintegrityintermsoflogreductionvalue.Forcriticalapplications,estimatedlogreductionsusingtheseequationsshouldbeconfirmedbyexperimentfortheparticularmembraneandsystemconfigurationused.Theabilityofthemethodstodetectanygivendefectisaffectedbythesizeofthesystemorportionofthesystemtested.Selectingsmallerportionsofthesystemtotestwillincreasethesensitivityofthetesttodefects.Whendeterminingthesizethatcanbetestedasadiscreteunit,usetheguidelinessuppliedbythesystemmanufacturerorthegeneralguidelinesprovidedinthisstandard.Theapplicabilityofthetestsislargelyindependentofsystemsizewhenmeasuredintermsoftheimpactofdefectsonthetreatedwaterquality(thatis,thesystemLRV).Thisisbecausethebypassflowfromanygivendefectisdilutedinproportiontothesystemstotalflowrate.Forexample,a10-modulesystemwithasingledefectwillproducethesamewaterqualityasa100-modulesystemwithtenofthesamesizedefects.1.1Thispracticecoversthedeterminationoftheintegrityofwaterfiltrationmembraneelementsandsystemsusingairbasedtests(pressuredecayandvacuumhold),solubledye,continuousmonitoringparticulatelightscattertechniques,andTOCmonitoringtestsforthepurposeofrejectingparticlesandmicrobes.Thetestsareapplicabletosystemswithmembranesthathaveanominalporesizelessthanabout1m.TheTOC,andDye,testsaregenerallyapplicabletoNFandROclassmembranesonly.1.2Thispracticedoesnotpurporttocoverallavailablemethodsofintegritytesting.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
